what the read?

April 29, 2009 at 8:28 pm | In blogging, ramble, twilight talk | Leave a Comment

so i think i have figured out when people actually read my blog. (since i have a stats tracker…i can tell what websites or posts generate the most flow…pretty cool.)

here they are: (in no particular order)

*when i write about toilet seat covers, or toilets or how to use a toilet seat cover…i only touched one this topic twice…and i get more hits on this topic. i am talking EVERY SINGLE DAY. seriously people…why are you googling “how to use a toilet seat cover?” you need help. in case you don’t find your answer…here we go…listen carefully.
step 1: pull out the cover from the wall
step 2: place toilet seat cover on toilet
step 3: proceed as usual. (i will remind you to pull down your pants before beginning…cause obviously you need help being reminded of the more simpler things in life.)

toilet safety is near and dear to me: here are the previous posts: i heart toilet seat covers and toilet safety :: never take it for granted.

*no school. who doesn’t love no school? obviously blog readers! no school.

*and now…twilight. i know! i am already one of those famous twilight bloggers. i even had a twitterer? a twit? a twat? twerp? whatever they are called…post my last link how to deal with a twilight fanatic on their twilight fan feed page on twitter. they are not following me (nor i them) so i must not be THAT interesting.

and lastly:

*when i shamelessly post links on my facebook page leading people to my blog.

shameless.

so thank you all for your interest in the blog…keep reading…and i will try to be interesting. or relevant. or twilighterific. not to mention safe from all public toilet diseases.

how to deal with a twilight fanatic

April 28, 2009 at 6:13 pm | In twilight talk | 1 Comment

thanks to allie for making fun…i mean for the link…

Twilight, the first book in a series by Stephanie Meyer, now made into a movie, has become all the rage with people of all age groups. Many people have become obsessed to the point of frenzy. This is an article that helps you deal with your friends, family, and coworkers that may have gone off the Twilight deep end.

you can read the rest of the article here.

if twilight has touched your life from your own experience or someone you know…read it. it’s really quite entertaining.

you can also check out how to spot a twilight fanatic. i think i may be guilty of a couple.

poem in your pocket day

April 28, 2009 at 9:20 am | In ramble | 1 Comment

today is poem in your pocket day at our school in celebration of national poetry month. the whole school walks around with poems in their pockets waiting for someone to ask them to share. it’s very cute. it can be poems they have made up or poems they have read. i chose:

Sick
by Shel Silverstein

“I cannot go to school today,”
Said little Peggy Ann McKay.
“I have the measles and the mumps,
A gash, a rash and purple bumps.
My mouth is wet, my throat is dry,
I’m going blind in my right eye.
My tonsils are as big as rocks,
I’ve counted sixteen chicken pox
And there’s one more–that’s seventeen,
And don’t you think my face looks green?
My leg is cut–my eyes are blue–
It might be instamatic flu.
I cough and sneeze and gasp and choke,
I’m sure that my left leg is broke–
My hip hurts when I move my chin,
My belly button’s caving in,
My back is wrenched, my ankle’s sprained,
My ‘pendix pains each time it rains.
My nose is cold, my toes are numb.
I have a sliver in my thumb.
My neck is stiff, my voice is weak,
I hardly whisper when I speak.
My tongue is filling up my mouth,
I think my hair is falling out.
My elbow’s bent, my spine ain’t straight,
My temperature is one-o-eight.
My brain is shrunk, I cannot hear,
There is a hole inside my ear.
I have a hangnail, and my heart is–what?
What’s that? What’s that you say?
You say today is. . .Saturday?
G’bye, I’m going out to play!”

here are a couple of poems my class wrote about volcanoes:

river of fire :: a haiku poem

flowing gently on
trickling without boundary
a peaceful killer

volcano :: a cinoquain poem

always changing
shaking, spewing, erupting
volent, exciting, awing, amazing
mountain

Volcanoes :: a haiku poem

Volcanoes are mean,
squirting lava rapidly,
almost hitting me.

rejected by seven different technologies…

April 24, 2009 at 9:11 am | In ramble | 3 Comments

i am important, and very, very, very interesting. maybe? i would like to think so.

did anyone see “he’s just not that into you?” don’t. if you haven’t. however…ever since opening my twitter account i have had the line drew barrymore’s character says stuck in my head.

“I had this guy leave me a voicemail at work, so I called him at home, and then he emailed me to my BlackBerry, and so I texted to his cell, and now you just have to go around checking all these different portals just to get rejected by seven different technologies. It’s exhausting.”

(i found the quote online…i didn’t memorize it…however…that would be amazing if did.)

why do we feel better about having as many “followers”, “friends” or “stats” as possible? can’t we just say i write, or tweet for me…and that’s it? after talking with chris…i decided technology can be very dramatic, and rejecting. why does it have to be this way? does anyone else feel this way sometimes?

my small world is getting smaller.

this is a pretty irrelevant post…but important to me none.the.less. read on if you wish.

jasen and i have been hooked on the new season of 90210 where jennie garth has reprised her role as kelly taylor. (thank goodness!) we are also hooked on the series of twilight and now the budding movie enterprise. i am a big fan of vampire patriarch Dr. Carlisle Cullen…and just found out the the actor who plays him in the movie, peter facinelli, is married to jennie garth.

yes…i am completely aware of my sickness. but this is my blog, so there.

nike+, nike+ mini and a celebration

picture-8

yesterday (april 22) marked 2 years of running for me. i know i owe my new found love and hobby to nike+. since april 22, 2007 i have recored the following stats into my nike+ account:
picture-11

nike+ definitely has some accuracy issues…but i still love it . i guess you really have to be on top of calibrating your pace. who has time for that? so for christmas i received ::

forerunner205i really love training with this watch. it is so very, very accurate and very helpful for race and training pacing. however…i am building a very sexy tan line on my wrist.

in two years i have been fortunate to run in several races:

november 2007 – 5K run to feed the hungry :: sacramento, ca
november 2008- 10K run to feed the hungry :: sacramento, ca
february 2009- 4 mile valentine run :: sacramento, ca
april 2009- 1/2 marathon :: santa cruz, ca

img_0112

(i thought in leu of earth day i would recycle some old pictures of previous posts.) here i am celebrating running over 1,000 miles in 2008.

i keep tossing the idea of a marathon this year. i just feel so intimidated. what a way to end 2009.

for 2009 i have the following races officially scheduled:

april 2009- 5K run roklin :: rocklin, ca
may 2009- 1/2 marathon american river park :: sacramento, ca
october 2009- nike women’s 1/2 marathon :: san francisco, ca

let me know if you will be there too! just ask lisa…i am really good at finding people at the race.

really bravo, really?

where is my little birdie?

here is the new desktop i found tonight. i think it suits well with the mood i feel. the girl has sad lips but her eyes seem a little hopeful. i think that is how i feel right now. sad but still hopeful. the stresses of racing, training, working, and moving have started to wear its toll.

this girl seems to be intrigued by this little bird. i want a little bird to tell me something hopeful too.
