we have been trying for months and months and more months to figure out our living situation. i my brain is fried, my body is fried, my patience is fried. having all of this finally come to a head at the end of the school year is almost pushing me past my limits. everyday more questions form about the paperwork, loan, and inspections that i feel like we are living in an episode of lost.

i want answers! no more questions!

ahh. that felt better.

also…a new season of the bachelorette started last night…how did i let that one slip by?!

anyway. at least jasen saw this today:
sold!

a prideful weekend.

thanks to all of you who shared your opinions here or on facebook. you girls sure know your pride. now, here are my “well educated” thoughts on the matter.

in either movie…mr. collins is a creepy, creepy man.

:: 1995 ::
it was nice to see the women so…ahem…healthy looking.
i loved the relationship developed between lizzy and mr. bennet. i missed that in the newer version.
i felt bingley was the best character on film. funny and admiring. however, i wanted someone to slap him to see if the smile would go away.
i grew very tired of 15 year old lydia’s boobies bouncing around everywhere. no wonder she ends up living in sin; you shameful girl.
i felt miss. bingley was perfectly cast. her shrewd features matched her rigid, abrasive and nasty personality.
please put mrs. bennet’s voice on mute. the obnoxious screeching, ugh…the obnoxious screeching. what did she have yell everything? 5 hours of that was quite enough, thank you. could you imagine such a mother? i surely hope not.

:: 2005 ::
holy cinematography. stunning.
i felt like it was basically cliff notes of the book. typical movie adaptations.
mr. bingly played such a goof, with stupid laughing and felt more like a prince harry look-a-like. why was he always stuttering? to-to-today, junior.
keira knightley’s upper lip did not seem to operate properly. is that normal for her? why didn’t it move? it’s like it’s stuck to her teeth. someone give the poor girl a glass of water.
jane bennet was too pretty. maybe because the other jane…well, was not so handsome.
holy knockers mr. wickham. you are gorge. too bad you are a slime ball. that figures.
now when mr. darcy comes forth from the fog and they speak in the glowing yellow sunlight…i became a puddle of mush all over the couch. clean up, aisle one.
pride_and_prejudice_matthew_macfadyen
best line…”mrs. darcy…mrs. darcy…mrs. darcy…mrs. darcy.”

best. ending. ever.

i think it is safe to say that i fancied both mr. darcys equally. for different reasons.

as someone suggested, both movies are excellent. now off to pride and prejudice and zombies…

good news. finally, good news.

we received this email today from our wonderful friend (and mortgage broker) john:

Hi guys,

I’ve just received the latest good news that they’ve accepted the value and we are good to go and have you own this beautiful home!

We will look to sign documents at title on Monday night or Tuesday and close by Thursday or Friday at the latest.

Congratulations! I truly feel this is the house for you after so many prayers.

could it be true?

pride and prejudice 1995 or 2005?

May 14, 2009 at 2:49 pm | In crazy things i buy, what is rotting my brain | 2 Comments

i just finished pride and prejudice yesterday in my new jane austen “all in one” book. i have to admit it was the first time i read it all the way through. now my inner dialogue is mostly spoken with british accents and subtleties. i have noticed it slip on occasion outwardly during the day. crazy stares at my questioning of, “does this bring you much felicity today?” or “reports will be due after the fortnight.”

after you read the book, you have to watch the movie, right? so which is better?

1995?
pride-and-prejudice-DVDcover

or 2005?
movieposter

i’ll probably end up watching them both since i am home alone this weekend.

then after that, i am starting pride and prejudice and zombies. recommended by the bookshop santa cruz.

prideandprejudiceandzombies

ha-ha. should be interesting.

among us.

May 12, 2009 at 8:44 am | In twilight talk | Leave a Comment

so i read this very funny blog yesterday about “twilight in tinseltown :: who is a celebrity vampire?” and you guessed it…this is another reference to twilight. but it’s really funny.

All the buzz around the cast of New Moon and the huge stars involved in the Twilight Saga got us thinking. What if everywhere else was just like Forks? What if vampires live secretly among us? And let’s say – for argument’s sake – that some of those vampires live in L.A. (we’re not just talking about the talent agents here). Which of Hollywood’s hottest actors could totally have fangs? We’ve compiled a list of the celebs we think would make the best immortals. Check it out!

Paris Hilton
She has porcelain skin, never gains weight and only comes out at night. Plus, she sucks the lifeblood out of everyone around her. Has anyone actually checked to see if Paris has a pulse?

Angelina Jolie
Stick thin, pale and always rumored to be on a “strange diet,” the constantly black-clad Angelina Jolie has been known to escape to her rented castle with her ever-growing brood. And shouldn’t we shine the light of scrutiny, as it were, on the fact that she stole another vampire away from his human prey to create an army…um… family of heretofore unequaled numbers? Add to that her early fascination with knives, her creepy relationship with her brother, and the fact that she wore a vial of her second husband Billy Bob Thornton’s blood around her neck and we’d say she’s a definite vampire in the making.

Zachary Quinto
Heroes star Zachary Quinto plays Sylar, a man who has an unparalleled ability to understand systems with no training and suffers from an uncontrollable hunger that forces him to attack other human beings. Coincidence? We think not. But, if you need more proof, Quinto also plays a young Spock in J.J. Abrams Star Trek. And aren’t Vulcans basically vampires from another planet? They are calm and calculating, have superhuman strength, milky-white skin and pointy ears. Enough said.
