wondering wednesday

what makes a good friend?

i feel like i ask myself this question a lot. because, to be honest, i worry what people think of me. i worry people won’t think i am considerate or thoughtful or kind. attributes i (try to) display everyday in my classroom. leading children to be good friends and good people.

good people.

but, i know in my “real” life i tend to fall short. however… let me tell you this about myself,

I HAVE THE BEST INTENTIONS.

most likely i have thought about you. wished you well. hoped for the best. sang, “you got a friend in me” about you.

most likely.

however, one little thing i forgot to mention in my allergic post…that i am also allergic to the phone. in a typical monthly setting, jasen will have used about 1,345 minutes on his cellphone, and me…7.

yes, 7. and usually those are to my mom to comfort her from thinking something terrible has happened, or that, in fact, there is a possibility for grandchildren someday. but then once 5 minutes rolls around, i offer we finish this conversation by text. or email.

so, all this to say…i do think about you friends, and i do have the best intentions…so just because i do not call, it does not mean i do not care.

and to alleviate some guilt, it does go both ways people. to have friends, you must show yourself friendly. (proverbs 18:24 aca version)

so i leave you with this, wonderers…

If you ever find yourself stuck in the middle of the sea,
I’ll sail the world to find you
If you ever find yourself lost in the dark and you can’t see,
I’ll be the light to guide you

Find out what we’re made of
What we are called to help our friends in need

You can count on me like 1 2 3
I’ll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4 3 2
And you’ll be there
Cause that’s what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah

That’s what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah
You can count on me cause I can count on you

If you toss and you turn and you just can’t fall asleep
I’ll sing a song
beside you
And if you ever forget how much you really mean to me
Everyday I will
remind you

Find out what we’re made of
What we are called to help our friends in need

You can count on me like 1 2 3
I’ll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4 3 2
And you’ll be there
Cause that’s what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah

You’ll always have my shoulder when you cry
I’ll never let go
Never say goodbye

You can count on me like 1 2 3
I’ll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4 3 2
And you’ll be there
Cause that’s what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah

you can count on me cus’ I can count on you
